This Privacy Policy describes how Spanish Translator ("we", "our", or "the App") handles user information. We are committed to protecting your privacy. The App is designed as an offline-capable translation utility, ensuring that your text, voice, and camera translations remain private and stored exclusively on your device.
2. Information We Access and How It Is Used
The App requires certain device permissions solely to provide core translation and utility features:
🎤 Audio & Microphone Permission (android.permission.RECORD_AUDIO)
Purpose: Used exclusively to enable voice input for speech-to-text translation.
Handling: Audio input is converted to text either via on-device speech processing or your system's built-in speech recognition service. We do not record, save, store, or transmit your voice recordings to any external developer server.
📷 Camera Permission (android.permission.CAMERA)
Purpose: Used exclusively to scan physical text, documents, signs, or menus for optical character recognition (OCR) and translation.
Handling: Camera frames and captured images are processed locally on your device via Google ML Kit Text Recognition. No photos or camera feeds are uploaded or stored on our servers.
🖼️ Photos & Storage (Image Picker)
Purpose: Allows you to pick an existing image from your device gallery to extract and translate text.
Handling: Selected images are processed locally in real time and are not transmitted to remote servers.
🌐 Internet Permission (android.permission.INTERNET)
Purpose: Used strictly to download language translation models (via Google ML Kit) and system service support.
Handling: Once language models are downloaded, all translation functions run entirely offline without internet connectivity.
🆔 Advertising ID (com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID)
Purpose: Declared in compliance with Google Play Services standards.
Handling: We do not serve personalized advertisements or track your personal activities across other third-party apps.
3. Local Data Storage & User Control
The App uses local device storage (SharedPreferences) to save:
- Translation History: Recent translations for quick reference.
- Phrasebook / Saved Items: Phrases marked as favorites by you.
- App Settings & Preferences: Theme settings and downloaded offline model statuses.
Your Control: You can clear your translation history or remove phrasebook items directly inside the App at any time. Clearing the App storage in your device settings or uninstalling the App will permanently delete all locally stored data.
4. Third-Party Services & SDKs
The App utilizes trusted libraries and SDKs provided by Google:

5. Data Retention and Deletion Policy
Because we do not collect, transmit, or store any personal data on remote servers, we do not maintain user databases. All data created through the App (such as history, favorites, and settings) resides strictly on your local device.
To completely delete all App data:
- Clear history and favorites inside the App settings.
- Go to Android Settings > Apps > Spanish Translator > Storage > Clear Storage / Clear Data.
- Or simply uninstall the App from your device.
6. Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)
Our App is suitable for general audiences and does not knowingly collect any personally identifiable information from children under 13 years of age. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take immediate corrective measures.
7. Security Practices
We value your trust in using our App. By performing translation, voice recognition, and image text processing on-device, we eliminate the risk of personal communication leaks associated with cloud transmission.
8. Your Rights (GDPR & CCPA Compliance)

- Right of Access & Portability: All your generated data (history, phrasebook) is directly viewable on your screen.
- Right to Erasure / Deletion: You have full control to erase all data at any moment via the in-app options or Android application settings.
